Will.i.am Denies Accusations of Song Theft

Multi-hyphenate artist Will.i.am, best known for being part of the group Black Eyed Peas, is now being accused of stealing a song form Russian dance producer Artem Stoliarov, more popularly known as Arty. Will.i.am admits to reaching out to the producer, wanting to collaborate soon after hearing one of his songs. He then recorded a new version of the 2011 song with Chris Brown and titled it “Let’s Go”.

Initially, Arty responded positively to his offer but later told fans via Facebook that there was no final deal yet. The Russian was credited on the album as the writer of the track but Will.i.am says he didn’t know anyone else was involved, therefore accidentally leaving another producer out.
“You can’t steal if you credited somebody,” will.i.am told The Associated Press in an interview this week. “He and I communicated. … It’s not my fault he didn’t tell me about the other guy. So who is to blame? I didn’t know.”
