Former Assistant Fire Chief Faces DUI Charge

Former assistant fire Chief William Smith was arrested last Monday for driving under the influence after it was determined that his blood alcohol content level was nearly twice the legal limit.

According to report, police received a call regarding a car crash incident where the vehicle left the scene. Later, Smith phone the phoned the police and reported the accident.

Due to some undisclosed injuries, Smith was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The next day, he then tendered his resignation after working at Stamford Fire & Rescue Department for 35 years.
