Gun Ownership Will Not Solve The Increasing Crime Rate

Gun Ownership Will Not Solve The Increasing Crime RateAccording to Standford University law professor, John J. Donohue, widespread gun ownership in the country do not exactly lower the crime rate. Being a gun control advocate, Donohue asserted that though guns are a big part of the crime problem, other social factors must be considered when trying to resolve the issue.

“You don’t have to worry about enough gun rights,” he said. “You have to worry about the gun you have because the gun is not only a threat to you but a threat to everybody.”

Gun ownership also has its disadvantages. Each year, more than 1 million guns are stolen from private individuals. Unfortunately, they make their way as stolen weapons into the black market.
